The Ministerio de Cultura y Deportes de Guatemala used its official Twitter account on November 1, 2025, to highlight the role of Casas de Desarrollo Cultural and promote traditional cultural practices in the country.

In a post published at 15:18 UTC, the ministry stated: " Las Casas de Desarrollo Cultural buscan mantener el legado comunitario y los lazos afectivos dentro de los municipios, promoviendo espacios de convivencia y participación ciudadana para revitalizar los derechos culturales. #ElPuebloDignoEsPrimero https://t.co/cP4QPLXCa9".

Shortly after, at 15:18 UTC, the ministry encouraged public participation in local traditions with another message: "¡Aprende y participa! #ElPuebloDignoEsPrimero".

The promotion of barrilete (giant kite) festivals coincides with Guatemala's annual celebrations for Día de Todos los Santos (All Saints' Day), during which communities gather to display giant kites as part of longstanding indigenous and local traditions. The technique and artistry involved in making these kites have been recognized internationally as part of Guatemala’s intangible cultural heritage by UNESCO.

Casas de Desarrollo Cultural are community centers established by the Guatemalan government to foster cultural activities and preserve local traditions across municipalities. These centers aim to strengthen social bonds and support citizen participation through educational programs and events focused on national heritage.
