The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food (MAGA), through its Vice Ministry of Rural Economic Development (VIDER), held the sixth Agroencuentro in Salamá, Baja Verapaz. The event was organized in partnership with the Guatemalan Exporters Association (AGEXPORT) and aimed to strengthen the commercial skills of producers.

Producers from Alta and Baja Verapaz, Izabal, El Progreso, Zacapa, and Quiché attended the event. Approximately 60 producers participated in business meetings that focused on a variety of sectors including vegetables, fruits, cacao, honey, cardamom, coffee, and spices. These meetings allowed participants to establish commercial contacts and move toward integration into value chains targeting both national and international markets.

Before the event began, attendees received training from VIDER professionals on topics such as business organization, commercialization strategies, Good Agricultural Practices (GAP), and manufacturing standards. This training was intended to help them offer competitive products that meet international quality standards.

During the Agroencuentro, information about #CréditoTobanik was shared with producers. This program provides access to soft loans designed to help improve and increase production.

According to organizers: "With this type of action, MAGA—through VIDER—promotes economic development in rural communities by encouraging connections between producers and buyers while contributing to growth in the country's agricultural sector."
