The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food (MAGA) has taken a step forward in developing the National Fire Policy (PNF) by holding a regional workshop in Zacapa. The event aimed to identify key issues and challenges related to fire use in agricultural and forestry systems across the country.
Representatives from public institutions, local governments, producer organizations, and civil society from the departments of Zacapa, Chiquimula, Izabal, and El Progreso participated in the workshop. They contributed technical input for creating a Problem Tree analysis, which will serve as the foundation for policy design.
Minister of Agriculture María Fernanda Rivera Dávila stated: "The PNF will strengthen rural resilience, improve food security and protect natural resources by coordinating work between institutions and communities."
This workshop is one of several planned for different regions. These events are part of a national consultation process that includes participatory validation. MAGA is carrying out this initiative with technical support from the policy’s consulting team.
