María Fernanda Rivera Dávila, Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Food (MAGA), addressed the importance of moving from narrative to action through evidence-based and science-driven policies at the Forum 2: New Policies in Brazil. Her remarks took place during the second day of the Conference of Ministers of Agriculture of the Americas 2025, under the theme “A new narrative for agriculture and agri-food systems in the Americas.”
During her presentation, Rivera Dávila stressed the need to combine ancestral and local knowledge with cutting-edge technology to build resilience into interventions. She also highlighted key programs such as soil and water for the future, emission reduction initiatives, agroforestry incentive programs for producers, and public investment in research, development, and rural extension systems.
Rivera Dávila emphasized digital transformation using artificial intelligence to distribute available knowledge and information to communities and users. She also underscored financial innovation through environmental payments and services, green agricultural bonds, and partnerships between public and private sectors.
She expressed appreciation for organizations like the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA), stating: "I would like to thank entities such as IICA, whose strength and credibility are essential to promote necessary policies for regional development."
