Aquatic patrols were conducted in the Guatemalan Caribbean on October 29 and 30 to ensure compliance with fishing regulations and encourage responsible use of aquatic resources, such as fish and seafood.
On October 29, authorities patrolled the El Estor and Río Dulce areas, supported by the Naval Detachment of El Estor. During this operation, boats were inspected to check the legal documentation of fishermen, verify proper use of safety equipment, and confirm adherence to established fishing regulations.
A second patrol took place on October 30 in coordination with the Caribbean Naval Command (CONACAR), covering the Golfete, Cañón de Río Dulce, and the river's mouth. These activities aim to strengthen institutional presence in coastal zones and prevent illegal fishing.
The patrols were carried out by technical staff from the Directorate of Fisheries and Aquaculture Regulation (DIPESCA), part of the Vice Ministry of Agricultural Health and Regulations (VISAR) under the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, and Food (MAGA).
According to officials, "these actions reaffirm the institution's commitment to conserving aquatic ecosystems and organizing the national fisheries sector."
