Tacos Lory, a family-run business that began as a small café in Nicaragua in the early 1980s, is moving toward industrialization after more than forty years of operation. The company’s growth has been supported by COCREO and Harinas Del Comal, which are part of the CMI Alimentos portfolio.

Founded by Alejandro Gutiérrez, Tacos Lory initially served local customers and gradually expanded its presence to distributors and supermarkets across Nicaragua. Now led by his son, José Adán Gutiérrez, the business is undergoing significant modernization. “We are in a process of modernizing the entire factory with machinery and work materials, and thanks to God we have achieved it, largely due to the support we have received from the COCREO program and Harinas Del Comal,” said José Adán Gutiérrez.

He also noted the strong relationship established from the outset: “The support from the beginning was very good. We were on the same page; we visualized the same objective: finding a way to industrialize and grow.”

CMI Alimentos highlighted its commitment to supporting entrepreneurs through initiatives such as COCREO, Molinos Modernos’ Bakery and Pastry Academy, and social action programs under CMI Emprende. According to their statement: “At CMI, Corporación Multi Inversiones, we believe in the power of partnerships and in the value of shared development. Through initiatives like COCREO...we provide tools and support so that entrepreneurs can reach their maximum potential, generate sustainable opportunities, and build a prosperous future for themselves, their families, and their communities.”

Currently specializing in fast food sales as well as packaged and frozen products available in Nicaraguan supermarkets, Tacos Lory credits much of its recent progress to these partnerships. “The Tacos Lory family feels very happy to be part of this COCREO platform and we appreciate all the support we have received—and will continue receiving—to keep growing now and into the future,” added José Adán Gutiérrez.

CMI Alimentos reiterated its mission: “At CMI Alimentos we reaffirm our commitment to ‘generate life-changing opportunities with family warmth,’ driving growth for those who make passion and effort their recipe for success.”

CMI is currently led by third-generation family members Juan José Gutiérrez Mayorga (President Chairman of CMI Alimentos) and Felipe Bosch Gutiérrez (President Chairman of CMI Capital), who remain committed to investments that promote sustainable development through entrepreneurship programs.
